Head of the Institute of Medical Biometry and Statistics at the Lübeck University (Germany). He received his diploma in statistics from the University of Munich, and his PhD in statistics from the University of Dortmund. He habilitated for medical biometry, epidemiology and genetic epidemiology in the medical faculty at Marburg University. Prof. Ziegler received the certificates epidemiology and biometry in medicine; the latter qualifies him as biostatistician for controlled clinical trials. His group in Luebeck cooperates in several interdisciplinary therapeutic, prognostic and genetic projects like dyslexia, alopecia areata, tuberculosis or malaria. Prof. Ziegler is president elect of the International Biometric Society German Region.
