Value Creation

Obesity is a serious disease condition affecting 20-25% of all adults in Western societies. Even more alarmingly is the steep increase in the frequency of obesity in children.  Since obesity is a risk factor for Type 2 Diabetes and  cardiovascular disease, earlier age of onset for disease complications will likely yield increased disease management costs.  Since susceptibility to obesity and complications is highly genetic, earlier recognition of risk is an important early step to more individualized preventive actions.

Project Status

IntegraGen has worked intensively on the genetics of childhood obesity.  We have identified several genes linked to various pathways involved in the dysregulation of energy homeostasis between food intake and energy expenditure.

Strategic Alliances

IntegraGen collaborates with leading clinical centers and Children’s Hospitals in Europe. We are partners in EU-sponsored projects on the interaction of genes and nutrition. IntegraGen’s commitment in this area is demonstrated by our alliance with DSM.
